Context
Where the brand stood
This was a mid-sized dropshipping store. It was already running Meta ads, but only small campaigns with moderate success. The owner wanted to take the ads to the next level.
We wrote it up on our LinkedIn page on 14 May 2024, the same day as the best day in the chart.
Problem
What was holding it back
Small campaigns were bringing in some sales, not enough. The owner wanted more sales without giving up a high return on ad spend, and wanted the cost per purchase kept under control as spend went up.
So the question was how to spend more on Meta without the cost of each order running away.
What we did
What we changed
Split the audience
We segmented the audience by demographics, interests and behaviour, and built separate campaigns for each segment so every ad was relevant to the people seeing it.
Made better creatives
We put time and money into new ad creatives that looked good and matched what each audience responded to.
Put budget behind what worked
We moved budget to the audience segments and creatives that performed best, and kept watching performance continuously.
Tuned targeting, ads and bids
With the data from the testing phase, we adjusted targeting, refined the creatives and changed the bidding.
Scaled spend in steps
Once we had pinpointed the segments and creatives that worked best, we raised spend gradually, not in one jump.
The numbers
How to read these numbers
The chart shows three single days. On the store's 1st day it made ₹3,000 from 8 orders. A month before 14 May it made ₹26,000 from 47 orders in a day. On 14 May 2024 it made ₹60,000 from 101 orders.
All three are one-day figures, as the article reports them. The article gives no date for the 1st day, so the chart places it first without a date.
Result
Where it ended up
In a month, the store's day went from ₹26,000 and 47 orders to ₹60,000 and 101 orders, on Meta ads, with spend raised only behind the segments and creatives that had already shown they worked.
We shared these numbers on our LinkedIn page on 14 May 2024.
For founders
What it means for a founder
Before you raise spend, find out which audience and which ad is doing the work. Here, spend went up only after we had pinpointed the best segments and creatives.
Raise spend in steps, not in one jump, and keep watching the numbers as you go.
Watch cost per purchase as you scale, not just revenue. The owner asked for more sales with ROAS kept high and cost per purchase under control, and that is the right ask.
Moderate results on small campaigns are a starting point. This store already had them before we started.
Questions
Questions founders ask
Which ad platform did this run on?+
Meta ads. The store was already running small Meta campaigns before we started, and we scaled those.
